Scripture for the Day – September 23, 2019
Psalm 119:130: The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Light is understanding and knowledge. If you need understanding or knowledge you need to get in the Word. Have you ever heard someone make the statement “As far as I know…”? As I thought about that statement I realized that most people will only go as far as they know. I also hear people say, “I’ve done all I know to do.” Well, when you’ve done all you know to do, you need to know some more. You need more information or revelation on whatever you’re doing or dealing with.
II Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
God has given us everything we need for life and godliness through knowledge, the knowledge of Him (GOD).
The Bible says in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.”
Fear will hold you in bondage and will eventually destroy you because of what you don’t know. The light of God’s Word brings wisdom, revelation (information) and knowledge that causes faith to rise up (Romans 10:17) and drive out fear.
Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
That’s why the Word of God is so important. As you begin to read the Word of God the Holy Spirit will enlighten you to know where to go and what to do.
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Psalm 119:105 says, “God’s Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” It shows me where I’m at (standing), and where I’m going (my path).
Colossians 1:10 says, “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
