Scripture for the Day (August 30, 2018)

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 2)

According to several internet sources unclaimed money and property in the United States is valued at 58 billion dollars. Why is it unclaimed? It is unclaimed because people don’t know about it. They don’t know the money or property belongs to them, so they can’t claim it. That’s why more people aren’t saved and healed. People can’t get saved or healed until they hear the Word of God, the Good News that Jesus Christ died and that they could have eternal life and healing. Their redemption is already paid for and healing is part of what Jesus redeemed for mankind.

Isaiah 53:5: But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

In Matthew 15:21-28 a Canaanite woman came to Jesus seeking help. In verse 26 Jesus said to her, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” Healing was the children’s bread, but after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, healing was made available to all who call upon the name of Jesus.

Some people think that God is the one that puts sickness on people. To add insult to injury some people believe that God uses Satan to distribute sickness. These people do not know their Bible. The scriptures plainly states that sickness is from Satan.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

Now, let me ask you this question. Does it make any sense for God to use the devil to put sickness on people and then have His Son come and heal them? I’m not a rocket scientist but that does not calculate to me.

Romans 8:17 says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” As children of God healing belongs to us because we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Someone might say, “Well, I knew someone who was a Christian and God didn’t heal them.” Well, I knew someone who was lost and they didn’t get saved. But that doesn’t discount the fact that Jesus paid for our salvation and healing 2,000 years ago.

I Peter 2:24 says, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”  “You were healed” is past tense. It’s already been done.

Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Jesus is the Word that God sent. Read God’s will, which is God’s Word, and find out the inheritance that has been left to you as a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
