Scripture for the Day

Corinthians 2:9: However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived— the things God has prepared for those who love him—”

I have used this verse about Heaven as I have heard other ministers do at times. But one day as I was reading on past verse nine, I realized these verses were not talking about heaven. From scripture we read quite a bit about heaven, so the ear has heard. But in verse nine it says eye hasn’t seen, nor ear heard, and it hasn’t even entered into our hearts what God has prepared for those who love Him. I believe this is talking about things the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to us in this life.

I Corinthians 2:10-12: But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

In John 16:13: But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

The Apostle Paul is talking about what God has freely given to us through the wonderful plan of redemption. Of course, that includes spending eternity in heaven, but this passage is talking about God’s Kingdom discovered in our lives here on earth — God’s kingdom coming and His will being done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Jeremiah 29:11-13: I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. The plans that you don’t know will be known, as you seek the Lord with all your heart.

Paul praying for the church in Ephesians 1:17-18 says, “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”

He’s praying that our eyes will see, and we will hear all that belongs to us in Christ Jesus in this life because of the wonderful plan of redemption.

Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things (all those things God has prepared for those who love Him), shall be added to you. I will see and I will hear and know all God has for me, as I seek first God’s kingdom and listen out for His Holy Spirit.
