Scripture of The Day

“The things which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these do ye, and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Philippians 4:9

By John Rex

Paul thus instructed others to follow his example. Are we worthy of imitation? Becoming a leader is not an easy proposition. Many aspire to excellence, but few have the diligence to achieve it. There are guidelines in Scripture for every occasion. Here are a few.

“Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good.” 3 John 1:11
“For you have been called for his purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps.” 1 Peter 2:21   How many of us relish the thought of following Christ into suffering? For I gave you an example that you should also do as I did to you.” “John 13:15

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” Romans 13:14 In this imitation, we are to replace ourselves with Christ, and this internal imitation yields a new person to replace the old man. “…that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12 Notice the important two elements: FAITH, combined with PATIENCE will cause us to gain the inheritance God has for us. Some cannot easily demonstrate faith in the unseen. Others hate the thought of patience. This could be as simple as deciding to trust God’s love, and to slow down while God provides the answer to our prayers. The following Scripture has great potential as powerful advice for our generation: “Do not follow the mases in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude to pervert justice.” Exodus 23:2

How different would America be today if all our citizens had followed the advice in the last year? DO we join in with liars just so we will fit in with liars? Did any of you lie in legal disputes?
God is watching! Live a life that will obtain the prize on the day of judgement. It is sooner than you think. Being a good citizen and being a good person are not so different in a righteous nation. In any nation, the citizens determine the goodness of that land. What could we do individually to change the nation? Pray for America that it may fulfill the intent and purposes of the Lord who gave it life.
