Scripture for the Day
February 15, 2021
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2)
Did you know that Jesus has given power to His disciples? Most believers today think that devils have passed away or exist in foreign countries only. Most believers today think that the power to heal the sick rests in doctors and hospitals alone. Those two beliefs are not based on the Word of God. The disciples of Jesus have been given power and authority. They have been given the Word of God. They have been given the name of Jesus. They have been given the power of the blood of Jesus. They have been given the authority to use the Word, the name, and the blood. They have been given the Holy Spirit and the Angels of God to assist them. So, what is our problem? Why aren’t we using those things to set people free and establish His Kingdom?
The two major hindrances to using this authority are unbelief and fear. The vast majority of Christians have never personally read or studied the Bible. They go to church and listen to someone else tell them what the Bible says and means but they never read it for themselves. Would you do that if the Bible was a last will and testament from your deceased millionaire father? No you wouldn’t! You would make sure you read every word to see what belongs to you. Well, your Father God is much more that a millionaire and you need to read the Old and New Testaments to see exactly what has been given you and not rely on a third party who may or may not know what they’re talking about. This is why we have so much unbelief in the Church. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Fear is the next most common enemy that holds us back. Do you know where fear comes from? It’s not from God! For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) Well, if it’s not from God where do you think it comes from? It comes from the enemy (the thief) who wants to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). Consider the following scripture: Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (James 2:19) What do the devils tremble at? They tremble at the Word, the name, the blood, and any believer that has the authority to use them. They are trembling at you and me! They are the ones that are afraid and the only way they can defeat you and me is to transfer that fear over onto us. Don’t receive it! It’s not from God. Walk in your authority and do what Jesus has given you the power to do! Nothing has changed. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
Step out disciples of God and use your inherited Power!
