Scripture for the Day
(January 11 2021)
Behold I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19)
As I sit here in the office catching my breath from this last week, Isaiah 43:19 keeps coming to my mind. I am beginning a new walk and season of my life. As I ponder that, I feel like one minute I want to burst into tears; the other minute I want to jump back in bed and pull the covers over my head, and in the next minute I want to clean the whole house! I am sure that in time as God heals my heart that I will become more balanced, but the fact of the matter is that it is a new day. Some new things are exciting, fun and fresh. Other new things are hard, challenging, and yet must be walked out. So here I am launching out into the deep. I know Ed is leaning over the bannisters of Heaven rooting for me. I am ready for what God wants to do in this new day.
I keep thinking about Matthew 5:4 where Jesus said that those who mourn are blessed and that they will be comforted. The comfort of God is not like ordinary comfort. The comfort of God which is administered by the Holy Spirit goes far beyond what the world calls comfort. He wraps us in His everlasting arms, holds us close and pours His love over us. The Lord has our backs and He meets all of our needs.
It is a new day and a new year. I plan to perceive and to take heed of what God is doing. I am keeping my eyes on Him, staying in His Word, and moving at his command. I am thankful that in my wilderness He will make a way. I am expecting rivers in my desert. Come on, join me in pressing in to the things of God, sharing the Gospel, ministering to those God sends into our path. Let’s seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. Let’s live for eternity.
