Scripture for the Day – July 20, 2020

Ephesians 1:15-17: Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Ephesians 1:17 calls God the Father of glory. God is our Father if you are a born- again child of God. When we pray, God wants us to come to Him as a child comes to talk with his father. You don’t just schedule a time for 30 minutes or 1 hour a day to talk to him. You could call him anytime during the day or night or even Facetime him and talk as long as you want.

Ephesians 3:14-15 says, For this reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

A few years ago, my father went home to Heaven. But before he did, he was always the first person I would think about to call when something exciting was happening in my life. Maybe it was just an idea I wanted to bounce off him, or I just wanted to hear his voice. After he was gone to Heaven, my wife and kids started getting the calls. I will literally go down the list till one of them answers. Why? Because they are family. Because of the finished work of Christ, we have come into the family of God and God is our Father. He wants us to talk to Him just like we would our own family.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

God wants us to acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will give you direction. This doesn’t mean acknowledging Him for one hour every day but acknowledging Him all throughout your day! “In all your ways” is everywhere you go and everything you do.

My Father is always available to talk and help guide my steps.
