A Nugget from New Life Network

Scripture for the Day (December 7, 2015)

Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air]. (James 4:14, Amplified Bible)

We recently had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at our home in Albany, GA with a few family members. Our eldest son David and his wife Barbie and our wonderful granddaughter Kayla came up from Crawfordville, FL. Cheryl’s younger sister Marsha and her husband Charlie also came up from Panama City, FL and spent a couple of days eating turkey and dressing with us.

On Thursday of this week Marsha and Charlie were back home in Panama City and went out to eat at their favorite local restaurant. During the meal, Charlie had a massive heart attack and died. What a shocker!!! As I write this devotional Cheryl is with her sister in Florida making funeral arrangements.

The Bible refers to our life on this earth as a vapor, here this moment and gone the next. The people that recently died in the California terror attack had no idea when they went to a Christmas party that would be their last day on earth. Let me ask you a question? What’s more important, 60-80 years on this earth or eternity? There is no comparison!!! That is why it is so important for you to make the right decision while you are here on this earth. Let’s make sure we concentrate on the big picture (eternity), not just the vapor!

We are in the last days! Whether you believe that or not from a theological standpoint makes no difference. It is your last days! You and I are only going through this one time so let’s make sure we make the right decision. You will spend eternity somewhere! Charlie had made his decision. How about you? It’s your choice!!!

If you want to save your life, you must lose it (Matthew 10:39).

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:26)
