Scripture for the Day (September 25, 2018)

So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them (Mark 11:22-24).

Jesus said that if we would speak to the mountain, that it would move. However, He followed that with two qualifying statements. Immediately after stating that the mountain would be removed after we commanded it to be cast into the sea, Jesus said this. He said if we believe in our heart that the words we say would come to pass, then we would have whatever we said (Mark 11:23). That was the first qualifying statement.

What does this first qualifying statement mean? It means that even though you may say the right words, if you don’t believe them in your heart, they are empty and they are of no effect. So how do we speak God’s promises with authority and belief, knowing that what He said is true? Well, the answer is quite simple and clear. There is only one verse in the Bible that tells us how faith comes and that is in Romans 10:17 and it says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Hearing the Word of God is not just limited to hearing a sermon from a preacher, although it can include that. You can also hear the Word of God as you personally read and study the Bible. You can also hear the Word of God as you recite and pray memorized passages from the Bible. You can also hear the Word of God when you hear the voice of God through His son, His Holy Spirit, or through His angels. Jesus said my sheep hear my voice. Jesus also told us that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. God’s voice is the Word of God and when you hear God, and act on His words, it definitely builds your faith. So, faith coming is not just limited to one way of hearing the Word of God.

We know for a fact that if you hear something enough times, you believe it. This is where we get the term “brainwashed” from. Christians need to get their brains washed with the Word of God (Romans 12:2). Instead of filling themselves with the lies of the enemy, their minds must be renewed with the Word of God. Through this daily washing of the Word, the belief in God’s Word that’s in our hearts will activate the words that we speak, which in turn will activate the angels of God to cause that Word to come to pass.

The second qualifying statement was in Mark 11:25-26 which is often left off. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Do you want to have mountain moving faith? Be quick to forgive!!!

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (Luke 23:34)

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
