Scripture for the Day
September 28, 2020
For Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (I John 5:4,5)
As I begin this devotional we would like to apologize for not posting any devotionals for the last several days. Ed has not felt well and we have been concentrating on his welfare. I am happy to report that he is much better and we are getting back to our schedule. Thank you all for your prayers and understanding.
As you know, we work with Joyce Meyer and other ministries to help new believers connect with a good local church. I (Cheryl) do most of the research on these churches. I ran across a church recently that had a slogan plastered across their home page and it is this; Move Life Forward! As I began to think on that slogan it really stirred in my Spirit. As Ed and I are on this journey to his healing I have found myself going through all kinds of emotions. Now, as a woman of faith I know we are not to be led by our emotions. However, being a woman, an emotional creature, I still have to deal with my emotions. When my eyes caught a glimpse of that slogan, Move Life Forward, it was like a shot in the arm!! 2/3 of God’s name is Go! He never called us to go backward, or to stop, or sit down. He called us to “go ye”!
I love the scripture in Deuteronomy 30: 19…..I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live. You and I are called to Move Life Forward. We are to think life, Philippians 4:8 Whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report, think on these things. (Cheryl’s paraphrase) We are to Speak Life. That means we are to always be speaking the promises of God. His Word should be flowing out of our mouths. Then we must do Life. Not as the world does life but do life according to God’s Word and leading of the Holy Spirit.
I know many of you are going through things just like we are. But I want to encourage you to Move Life Forward. Life is going to go on no matter what. We can stay in depression, anger, frustration, fear or we can choose Life! Hebrews 10:35 says, Do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward. Where is your confidence? Mine is in God and His Word.
Ed and I love you all and we are praying for you. I know this has been a hard year for all of us. But our God is an awesome God and good things are coming. Join us in Moving Life
