Scripture of The Day

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

I received an interesting phone call several weeks ago from a young girl in another state. She shared with me that she attended an evangelical church and she and several of her friends wanted to start a deliverance ministry. I asked her if she had ever been baptized in the Spirit and did she speak in tongues. She said no. Then I said this to her. “What you are telling me is you and your friends want to face demonic spirits in your own flesh. I would not advise you to do that”.

I then asked this young girl if she wanted to be baptized in the Spirit. She said yes and as I prayed for her over the phone she was baptized in the Spirit and began speaking in tongues. I then told her that now she should go back and lay hands on all her friends and get them baptized in the Spirit and after that pray and ask God whether they were to proceed with this deliverance ministry.

We cannot be saved without the Holy Spirit. We cannot know the truth without the Holy Spirit. We cannot receive power except through the Holy Spirit. We cannot be baptized in the Holy Spirit except through the Holy Spirit. Give it up folks! Lay it all down! We need the Holy Spirit to accomplish what Jesus wants us to accomplish on this earth. We need to get over all our arrogance and pride. We need Him!! The whole point of this story is to remind you that we can do nothing without God’s power. We get that through the Holy Spirit. Just as in Act 2:4 as the Holy Spirit blew into that room and they were filled and began to speak in tongues, God’s power was released on this earth. Remember that Peter went out and preached and 3000 people got saved!! That’s what I’m talking about!

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
