Scripture of The Day

So I intend always to remind you about these things, although indeed you know them and are firm in the truth that you now hold.  I think it is right, as long as I am in this tabernacle (tent, body) to stir you up by way of remembrance.   (2 Peter 1:12-13)

I love the above scripture because I feel like that is part of my calling, to stir people up by reminding them who they are in Christ, the Power that is in the blood, and the Power of God’s Word. There are many times in scripture where we are instructed to be stirred up.  The Hebrew word used for stirred up is “uwr” which means to open the eyes, to fully wake up, to arouse, or to  re-kindle the fire.

I always think of cooking chili when I think of being stirred up. I put all these ingredients in a big pot and put it on the stove to cook slow. Every once in a while I will go back in to stir up those ingredients because all the good stuff goes to the bottom and if not stirred they will stick.  What good stuff has settled in you that needs to be stirred up.  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. …. (2 Timothy 1:6-7)

I encourage you today to stir yourself up in God’s Word, stir yourself up in doing the work of the ministry, stir yourself up in reaching a dying world, and sharing Jesus with all who come across your path.  Stir it up!
