Scripture of The Day
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the Word with signs following. (Mark 16:19-20)
As I was reading some of our devotionals from the last couple of years, I came across this one. I felt it was so appropriate to reprint. We all need a fresh breath of the spirit to blow across our lives. As I read the Word and see miracles, healings, and powerful moves of God, I also see how it affected people. The people in the Bible were astonished and awestruck at the miracles Jesus and His disciples did. The following are just a few examples of how people were affected by the power of God. Be reminded, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is still doing miracles!!! They have not passed away!!!
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. (Daniel 3:24)
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. (Mark 5:4)
And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak. (Mark 7:37)
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 10:45)
Get ready to be astonished because where sin abounds grace does much more abound and we are living in a world that is going slap crazy. But we serve an amazing, awesome, and astonishing God!!! He has not been caught off-guard.
