Scripture of The Day
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)
What do you think when you read the verse above? I have had some people who think it means to work for our salvation. That is not what the verse means. You cannot work enough to pay for what Jesus did on the cross. Our salvation was a free gift of God (Romans 6:23) So then, what does it mean to work out our own salvation?
If you are born again then you and I must take what has been worked in us from our hearts and spirits and work it out (live it) in our every day lives. When we are saved so much has been deposited in us. Things like, the nature of God, the fruit of the spirit, right standing with God through Christ and, so much more. However, we must take those gifts and work them out in our souls, (our minds, wills, and emotions.) You have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3)
You do not have to struggle trying to become something you already are! God the Father, Jesus the son, and God the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in our hearts and spirits. As you read the Word, pray, and worship God’s Word will transform you and He will help you work out what is on the inside of you to the outside of you in your day to day life. How great is that!!
