Genesis 50:20 – But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
When Joseph’s brothers sold him to the Ishmeelites, they did it out of jealousy for their father’s love for him, his ability to dream, and ability to interpret dreams. Their intent was to profit by this act. Thankfully, God had plans for Joseph to be in a position to save his family, and the Pharaoh’s people from famine. Joseph couldn’t see this in the beginning, and faithfully walked through many challenges against him to be placed in a position of authority. God always has our backs, and will take things meant for our harm to turn them to our advantage. We have to be open to change, good or bad, and be open to God’s direction in our lives – which is not always apparent in the midst of adversity.
Romans 8:28 – Now we know that all things work together for them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.
Take time always to be still and present with the Lord daily to be open to His voice and direction, and know He is with us always. We may not (ever) understand all our circumstances, but we can trust Him to bring us out to a better place when we allow Him to work in and through us. People may make plans, but God has the destination and result in mind.
