Scripture of The Day
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NLT)
I saw a demonstration of how we need to be constantly filled up. They took a tall glass of water and filled it to the top and then began to walk around on the stage while having others bump into them causing the water to spill out of the glass. The point was that as we go through day to day life on this planet, we get knocked around by the things of this world and the next thing you know our glass is empty. We are no good empty.
Like faith, hope is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Paul’s benediction is that we “may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” When the Lord indwells us through the power and in the person of the Holy Spirit, he brings hope, in addition to peace, joy, faith and love. Jesus is the source of all hope because He shows us the path of life, in His presence is fullness of joy and in His right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
As we begin to enter into the Christmas season let’s allow the Holy Spirit to fill us everyday with His presence. Read the Word more in December, pray more in December, and remember…Jesus is the reason for the season.
