Scripture of The Day
And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. (Colossians 3:15 AMPC)
This is the perfect time of the year to share about peace. This is the time of year where we get super busy with decorating, buying presents, hanging out with family members, traveling, and cooking, and on and on. The above scripture tells us to let peace rule in our hearts. It tells us to allow that peace to be the umpire of our soul. We all know that the soul is our mind, will, and emotions.
For me, one of the ways I stay in peace is to be thankful. “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” This phrase “be thankful” means literally “become thankful!” God has done so much for us that we should seek to become increasingly grateful people. Notice that gratitude is our choice!
In the busy, crazy days ahead I encourage you to pause…allow the peace of God to invade your life. Another version of that verse is, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
This is the season to let (choose) to allow the peace of Christ to rule. Remember, that Jesus is our peace!
