Here we are folks! A New Year is upon us. The question is, what are we going to do with it? What are we going to change from 2022? What are we going to stop doing? What are we going to start doing?
The choices that we make in life are very important! When I gave my life to the Lord in May 1980 my whole life changed. All things were made new, but I still had to make a lot of choices on my own. The biggest choice I had to make was to honor God in everything I did and every word out of my mouth. In other words, I chose to make Jesus Lord of my life, and not just savior. There is a big difference in the two.
A large part of the Christian community today is satisfied with just sitting in a church pew or a couch every Sunday morning. I have never been one of those types. I am not satisfied with just being a hearer of the Word. I realize that one never understands the Word until they are willing to do it. You will never see anybody healed if you never pray for anyone’s healing. You will never understand the honor and power of leading someone to the Lord until you actually do it. That is why Jesus told us to “go ye” into all the world and preach the Gospel. Two-thirds of God’s name is go and I don’t believe that is an accident.
My prayer for all of you for 2023 is that you find a ministry that is going and do something to help them go. Find a ministry that fits your passion. It may be a prison ministry, a food bank, a homeless shelter, a missionary group, a youth ministry, or a ministry to the marketplace like New Life Network. It may be something totally different but find something. Ask God to help you!
I can tell you this. I have spent over 38 years going and I have learned and witnessed things that I would have never experienced otherwise. I guess the main thing I learned is that God is faithful through it all. He has never forsaken me or let me down. I am more in love with God now than I have ever been. I hear Him clearer than ever before. I understand that He is good all the time. You will not know that unless you are out there pursuing Him with your whole heart.
The year 2023 is a brand-new slate. God has given you some choices to make. Make Him Lord of your life or stay stuck in a religious rut. Get up and go do what God has called you to do, or sit on a pew or couch for the rest of your life. There are people out there that need what you have been given. If you go, He will show-up!
