Scripture of The Day 3/11/2022

That according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with Power. Ephesians 3:16

There have been several studies that show that weight lifting, continued throughout a woman’s adult life, can almost certainly prevent the ravages of osteoporosis.  Even so, some women still avoid the gym, fearing they will become “muscle-bound,” bulking up like the incredible Hulk. It’s a myth; a woman’s hormones coupled with the underlying structure of her muscle tissue won’t allow her to develop the kind of muscle mass possible for men.

Few women covet the brute strength common to male bodybuilders.  That doesn’t mean women welcome weakness.  The kind of strength Paul describes in Ephesians 3:16 has nothing to do with muscle power or brute force.  Instead, it bespeaks an inner strength of spirit.

No matter what our body type, our age, or our gender, the Lord Jesus wants this strength of soul for us.  As we call to Him, asking for it, He grants us quiet, inner strength.  As we take in the milk and the “solid food,” the meat, of His Word, acting in faith on it as we come up against every life circumstance, we grow stronger.

The psalmist David wrote about this 1000 years before Paul.  “On the day I called,  you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.”

I encourage you to pray for this strength.  As you read God’s Word and act on it you will be strengthened!
