The scripture above is challenging me in this new year to be a better manager of my time. Being better, not just for time’s sake, but to make the most of every opportunity to live out my faith.
It is easy to get caught up with the things of this world. However, Paul is trying to tell us that we need to take every opportunity to do good. There should always be a sense of urgency in getting the gospel out. Even Jesus said in John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
I think wisdom is related to redeeming the time. Even Paul said, …”not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time because the days are evil, wherefore be ye not unwise.” There are lots of ways to redeem time. If you drive a long way to work, then listen to a podcast or a teaching. Even if you are home with children, while they nap or play listen to Christian TV or a podcast. The more of God’s Word we put inside, the more wisdom we will have and walk in. I am planning my time more carefully this year. I choose to stay plugged in to God’s Word and I will make the most of every opportunity to share God’s love with those He puts in front of me.
I encourage you today to be wise with your time. We are only going through this life once…make it count!
