Scripture of The Day

And there was a man called Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, and [he was] rich.  And he was trying to see Jesus, which One He was, but he could not on account of the crowd, because he was small in stature.  (Luke 19:2-3)

I get lots of calls every day from people with all kinds of situations. People often do not know what to do or where to turn.  Well, the first place we must turn is to God and His Word. That is where all of our answers are. In most cases there are things that we can do to help our situation. I am reminded of the story of Zacchaeus. Now, his situation was unique. He wanted so much to see Jesus. Being a man of short stature, he was not able to see what was going on in the streets. He could hear the commotion and he knew Jesus was coming, but he could not see a thing. So Zacchaeus did something about his situation, he climbed up in a sycamore tree so he could have a good view of what was going on. He could have sat on the side of the road and had a pity party. He could have gotten mad and pitched a fit. But he did what he could do. And as a result, Jesus called him out of the crowd and told him to get dinner ready – He was coming to his house.

I love the attitude that Zacchaeus had. He found something he could do to help his situation: Stop worrying about what you can’t do. Stop comparing yourself with others. Look around and find something you can do to help your situation. Do what you can do, and trust God with the rest!
