If you abide in me and my word abides in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done. (John 15:7:)
Jesus said you shall ask what you will and it shall be done. That only applies to the person that is abiding in Jesus and His word is abiding in them. The word abide means to remain; continue; stay; and dwell. When you remain; continue; stay; and dwell in Jesus and His Word, you will know God’s will on a matter (what His Word says) you will have revelation, light, and understanding.
Ephesians 5:8 says, “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” You can’t see where you are going when you are walking in darkness, and you can’t move boldly or confidently. Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119:105 says, “God’s Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” God’s Word shows me where I’m standing (lamp unto my feet) and where I’m going (light unto my path). It’s easy to walk (pray) when you can see where you’re going and you’re not in darkness (lack of understanding).
I John 5:14-15 says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” You can pray with confidence and boldness when you have God’s Word (His will and His promises) on a matter. That’s why Hebrews 4:16 says “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Pray in the light of His Word (His Will)!!!
