Scripture of The Day 3/25/2022
In humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:25-26)
I think one of Satan’s greatest fears is that the body of Christ will discover what it takes to enable them to escape his snares. According to the above scripture this process is in 3 steps.
1. We have to know truth! John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. You will know that truth, and the truth will set you free.” That means that God’s Word is truth! It is our guideline, our roadmap, and our instructions for life.
Step 2 is to “come to your senses.” I have heard many preachers and teachers talk about us coming out of our stupor. I love Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine, for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you!” I think if we stay in a state of slumber we can easily be ensnared by the enemy.
Step 3 Finally, the result of knowing the truth and coming to your senses is “escaping the snare of the devil.” Only when we saturate ourselves in the Word of God and snap out of our stupor will we avoid the devil’s snare.
When Jesus himself was confronted with the enemy He said,” It is written.” Every time the devil tried to ensnare Jesus He came back to him with the Truth, the Word.
You see, the Word of God, the truth, must be applied before freedom is experienced.!
