Scripture of The Day4/4/2022

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in the view of all the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy [devoted, consecrated] and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable [rational, intelligent] service and spiritual worship. Romans 12:1  AMP

Today our Pastor taught on discipleship. I have always thought of discipleship was following all the dos and don’ts in order for God to be pleased with me. Things like never missing church, never cuss, always be sweet, mind my parents, and so on. As a young girl that is how I saw being a disciple.

Isn’t it crazy how we carry things from childhood into adulthood? One thing I have learned since reading God’s Word and studying the Bible is, it is all about relationship not rules and regulations.. When Jesus chose His disciples all He said to them was, “Come and follow me.” They followed Him, sat under His teachings and devoted themselves to His way of doing things.

Our Pastor defined discipleship as, discerning the will of God. I seek that every day of my life. I want to know His will for me day by day, moment by moment. In order to be a disciple I must choose to make a decisive dedication to follow Jesus. That decision will cause me to make a shift in my priorities.

This world is always trying to pull us away from serving God. Matthew 6:24 says we cannot serve two masters. We cannot have one foot in Jesus and the other in the world. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Another thing that was taught today was the power of our yes. Did you know that your yes has power? It is only as powerful as the power of your no. Say Yes today to God’s Word and His way of doing things. Say NO to the things that are contrary to God’s Word and those things that pull you backwards. I pray you press in today to discipleship.
