Scripture of The Day

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God.   ( I Corinthians 1:3 )

Many of the Epistles open with, “Grace be unto you, and peace.”  Why?  Because we cannot experience God’s peace unless we first know how to receive His grace and walk in it.  There are 3 things about grace you need to understand; First, it cannot be earned. Second, it’s God doing for you what you cannot do for yourself. Third, it usually doesn’t kick in until you stop struggling, trying to do it yourself.

James writes: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6)  The humble are the ones who admit their total inability to succeed without God’s help.   But the proud are always trying to take credit.  They think that it is their ability that gets the job done. They have a hard time asking for help and then receiving help.  Peter writes, “Grow In Grace”  (2Peter 3:18)  We can only learn to trust God by doing it.

Face it, there will never be a day when we won’t need God’s grace.  And if we are willing to acknowledge that we need it and receive it by faith, there will be no shortage of it.  Listen: ” For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received (all had a share and we were all supplied with) one grace after another and spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift (heaped) upon gift.”   ( John 1:16 amp )
