Scripture of The Day
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:20-23)
I have learned over the years that with the Lord, it is always about the heart. The Word tells us that God does not look at what man looks at. We see the outside of a person, but God sees the heart. I can remember a time Ed and I had an argument. We both said mean things to each other. When the dispute was over God spoke to me and said, ” All that ugly is in your heart in abundance.” You see, the Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45)
Here are 4 blockages of the heart.
- Selfishness
- Bitterness
- Rejection
- Evil Thoughts
I could write pages on each one of these. Instead here are 3 steps to transforming the heart.
- Invite the Holy Spirit to show you
- Invite the Holy Spirit to change you
- Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you.
One of my favorite scriptures to help me keep my heart right is Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me…. The Bible tells us that above all else to guard our hearts for out of it flows the issues of life. My prayer today is that you will check your heart motives. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you, change you, and fill you.
