Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. ( Romans 12:2)
I heard a teaching the other day that really stirred me. Have you ever thought about who sets your standards? A Standard means moral excellence and a measurement of value, as well as a model of authority.
The world we live in tries to set your standards, people in the entertainment business tries to set your standards, social media tries to set your standards, and even your friends will try to set your standards. I have even heard of some people that say they set their own standards. What is your measuring stick? Jesus set the standards for how we live with others, how we understand the world, love and forgive, set personal goals, and focus on what matters in life. He is my measuring stick!
I encourage you today to take on the standards of Jesus Christ. He is our standard! We cannot expect God to be our strength if He did not set our standards. How can we expect success if we do not have a standard of excellence. Who sets my standards?….. Jesus!
