Scripture of The Day 01/04/2024
Not that I now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of [grasp] and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus [the Messiah] has laid hold of me and made me His own. (Philippians 3:12)
Have you ever struggled with guilt? I have, many times. Especially right after my husband went home to be with Jesus. I heard these thoughts, maybe I didn’t pray good enough, maybe there was more I could have done for Ed, maybe I didn’t have enough faith. On and on the thoughts bombarded my mind. Making people feel guilty about anything is not God’s mode of operation. Now I am pretty strong in the Word of God and I knew those thoughts were not of God. The source of guilt is the devil.
God convicts us of wrong choices and actions, but He never tries to make us feel guilty. Guilt presses us down, but godly conviction brings an opportunity to change and progress. We are not built for guilt. God never intended His children to be loaded down with guilt. Our systems do not handle guilt well at all. God sent Jesus to free us from guilt.
Your future has no room for your past. My pastor used to say, “Your past has no future.” How much time do you waste feeling guilty? God tells us not to dwell on our past mistakes. The good news is Jesus came for those who sick,(Imperfect), not for those who were well (perfect.)
As you begin this new year, cut the cord on the past. Stop dwelling on past mistakes and move forward into this new year knowing that God loves you and you are in the process of maturing in Christ Jesus. He is still working on us!
