Scripture of The Day

Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”         (Joshua 24:14-15)

Did you know that in 1940 90% of American homes and families were Christian?  As of today in 2024 it is less that 60%.  I venture to say it is probably much less than 60%.  It seems things have gone crazy.  Many people are doing their own thing.  I love the last part of our Scripture today; “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”

As we all move forward in our lives we must realize that we must draw lines and choose who we will serve.  Small choices make large impacts. The day is upon us and our choices are more important than ever.  Joshua drew a line and said,  ” As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

There are two things I would encourage you to pay attention to.  1.  Your personal walk.  Proverbs 4:23  says that we are to guard our hearts. For out of our hearts flow the issues of life. Stay around people who add value to your life.  Remove the negative influences around you.  2.  Draw a line around your family. “ I stationed men in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, the exposed places, and I stationed the people in families with their swords, spears and bows. When I saw their fear, I rose and spoke to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people: “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your houses.”  Nehemiah found the “exposed places” and put families together to fight the enemy.

I encourage you today to fight for your families. Close up the exposed places  Draw lines and boundaries for your life.  We serve a great God and He has a great plan.
