Scripture of The Day

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…  (Proverbs 23:7)

As I have been redoing things in my house, I ran across my favorite book besides the Bible, “Battlefield of the Mind” By Joyce Meyer.  My copy is written in, tattered, and the pages are falling out. However, this book is very important to me in that it set me straight about thinking right. By right, I mean thinking God’s way.

Proverbs 23:7…For as he thinks in his heart, so is he… I have come to know that you can take authority over your thoughts. You can discipline yourself to think God, positive, and Word thoughts. You and I do not have to think fear, negative, or doom and gloom thoughts. As Joyce puts it, “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.” It is a necessity that we get our thinking in line with God’s Word. After all, God’s Word is the real truth.

How in the world do I do this you may ask? Well, to start with you must believe that God’s Word is THE truth. You have to read it and get it in your spirit. Then you need to ask God to help… and ask a lot! By the Holy Spirit, God will quicken you to arrest the wrong thoughts and replace them with truth. The Holy Spirit is our helper. Call on Him. We cannot make it on our own!  “…not by might and not by power, but by My Spirit…says the Lord of hosts… (Zechariah 4:6)

To me, it comes down to either we are going to have the mind of the flesh or we are going to have a mind of the Spirit. The Bible talks often about the battle that goes on between the flesh and the Spirit. This is a battle we can win! Our thoughts are powerful. It is a necessity that we keep our minds stayed on Him.  God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. We can do this. I encourage you today to watch those things that come into your mind and if they do not line up with God’s Word, cast it down and change your thoughts. Let’s keep our hearts in Hope, stay thankful, and enjoy our lives.  “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.  (2 Corinthians 10:5)
