Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. ( Romans 12:2)
I heard a teaching the other day that really stirred me. Have you ever thought about who sets your standards? A Standard means moral excellence and a measurement of value, as well as a model of authority.
The world we live in tries to set our standards, people in the entertainment business try to set our standards, social media tries to set our standards, and even our friends will try to set our standards. I have even heard some people say they set their own standards. What is your measuring stick? Jesus set the standards for how we live with others, how we understand the world, how we are to love and forgive and focus on what matters in life. He is my measuring stick!
I encourage you today to take on the standards of Jesus Christ. He is our standard! We cannot expect God to be our strength if He did not set our standards. How can we expect success if we do not have a standard of excellence? Who sets my standards?….. Jesus!
