I have always referred to the above scripture as God’s phone number. God spoke this passage to the prophet Jeremiah during his time of captivity in Babylon. God assured Jeremiah that if he earnestly sought Him through prayer, he would receive God’s response and revelations. This verse highlights God’s desire for people to genuinely call upon Him, to seek His wisdom and guidance.
To quote my friend John Mason, “Prayer brings momentum. It lifts the heart above life’s challenges and gives it a view of God’s resources of victory and hope.” In response to the prophet’s surprise at this turnaround, God said “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets that you do not know about things to come” (Jeremiah 33:3). Without God’s direction for every step, Jeremiah could not have adequately fulfilled his life’s purpose. You can’t either. God, your father, is waiting for you to ask him. He has wonderful things to tell you.
