Leviticus 23:1-2
The term, “Happy New Year” may seem out of order for today. However, the Jewish holiday’s beginning marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year and the “High Holy Days.”
This holiday is called, the Feast of Trumpets, also known as Rosh Hashanah. In the Bible, the day known as Rosh Hashanah is never actually called ‘a New Year’. Instead, God calls it the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah in Hebrew), when He ordained to blow the shofars – ram’s horns. The sound was a reminder to repent and to encourage reflection.
Yom Teruah is a day of rest, a day for seeking the Father, and a day of blowing trumpets and shouting to Yahuah. On this day we look forward to the return of our Messiah, and we prepare our hearts for His return.
Although this may not be familiar to you, I encourage you to take the next 10 days and spend time with the Lord. Humble yourself, repent, and reflect on the past year and how you can move forward closer to the Lord and His Word. He is coming back and I want to be prepared.
