Scripture of The Day
...He said, ” My child, don’t underestimate the value of the discipline and training of the Lord God, or get depressed when he has to correct you. For the Lord’s training of your life is the evidence of his faithful love. And when he draws you to himself, it proves you are his delightful child.” (Hebrews 12:5-6) The Passion Bible
Not long ago the Daytona 500 race happened in Florida. It brought back to mind an article I read about Darrell Waltrip. He had this bad boy image. He was the guy folks loved to hate. Then there was this horrible crash and he miraculously survived. Things changed in his life. He started attending church with his wife. They tried to have a family, but his wife suffered four miscarriages.
One day his pastor came to visit. He asked, ” A beer company sponsors your car. Is that the image you want?” Darrell had never considered how his car looked and the image it portrayed. He thought about it and decided that he cared about his image. He thought If our prayers for a child are answered, what kind of dad would I be? He remembered his pastor’s admonition to “walk the walk, not just talk the talk.”
He did not know how to convince the car’s owners to change sponsors, but amazingly, an opportunity opened up for him to sign with a new racing team sponsored by a laundry detergent company. After much thought and prayer, he switched teams. Two years later, his daughter Jessica was born, and Sarah was born a few years after that. In 1989, he won the Daytona 500. God honors our obedience and rewards our faithfulness to follow him.
