Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Prov. 31:30) ESV
Do you ever get the feeling that you just don’t measure up? I do. Growing up in a house of entertainers and musicians, everyone was always trying to outdo each other. You never felt good enough. When I would read Proverbs 31 and how perfect that woman was and all she did, I really did not like her very much. I thought, “who in the world can keep up with her?” I would just as soon skip over that chapter.
However, I have come to know and understand that Proverbs 31:10-31 is one of celebration not condemnation. These words are aren’t meant to tell a woman she must be more. They are a celebration of who she is. She is a woman of strength and dignity, a woman of valor, she is courageous, and seeking God. Proverbs 31 is You! All of those things are in you. You are good enough. If you were to look back on your life you would see when you moved in strength, when you were courageous, when you walked with your head held high in spite of circumstances, and when you really trusted God.
God celebrates you. The Bible says, ” The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” ( Zephaniah 3:17)
You are worth celebrating!
