Scripture of The Day 5/12/2022

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

I must say that I use this scripture a lot and I pray it a lot too. The word “conform” means “to act in accordance or harmony; to comply with”. Transform means “to cause to change”.

Romans 12:2 in the New Living Translation says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

We as Christians don’t want to be conformed to this world. But how are we to become transformed into that new person? God’s Word tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, which is changing the way we think. Someone might say, “My thinking is okay.” Well, if that were true you wouldn’t need to have your mind renewed. The world is always pressuring us to act in accordance with or in compliance to its way of thinking. It’s called peer pressure, and it doesn’t stop after you become an adult. Instead of allowing the world to form our thoughts let’s allow the Word of God to form our thoughts, which in turn will transform or cause us to change.

Romans 8:29: For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. To be transformed is to be conformed to Jesus.

I encourage you today to allow God’s Word to change the way you think. Let the Word of God transform you and form Christ in you!!
