Scripture of The Day 5/30/2022

And whatever you do, Whether in word or deed, do it all  in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  (Colossians 3:17)

As I set here today and ponder the meaning of Memorial Day, I am truly thankful for all of our service men and women who have fought for the freedoms of this country.  Memorial is to honor those who have died in service to our country.  It was declared a national holiday through an act of Congress in 1971, and it’s roots date back to the Civil Way era, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

American Civil War (1861–1865)          620,000 died

World War I I (1939–1945)                     405,399 died

World War I    (1917-1918)                         116,516 died

Vietnam War  (1965-1973)                         58.209 died

There are other statistics of thousand more that died in other wars.

My point today is to make you aware that this day is not just about a 4 day weekend.  It is important that we remember freedom is not free.  The numbers above do not take into account all those who were injured, committed suicide, and the families that were forever changed.

Please take some time today and pray for the families who have been impacted by these losses and also pray a prayer of Thanksgiving to God for all those brave men and women who fought for us.

Also remember the God who fights for you.

Deuteronomy 20:4  For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory..

Jeremiah 1:19  “They will fight against you, but will not overcome you for I am with you and will rescue you.” declares the Lord
