Scripture of The Day 6/7/2022

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, Amplified Bible)

Years ago Ed wrote a devotional on how he did not want ineffective religion. Growing up in the south by Christian parents and Christian grandparents he did not see much of the power of God. He felt church was more of a social club with people dressing up on Sundays to impress people and make themselves look good.

Around 1978, after the birth of my youngest son, God began pulling me close to Him and giving me a hunger to know Him and His Word. I rededicated my life to Jesus and things really changed in our home. This is how Ed described it, “I started to see a power starting to manifest that I had never seen before. Miracles starting happening. Healings started to happen. Even our cat, who the vet wanted to put to sleep, got healed. That will get your attention! The Word came alive in Cheryl and in our house and I could not deny it. That started 33 years of ministry together.”

Jesus did not die on the cross and send His Holy Spirit to empower us for us to be ineffective. We are called to change the world! We are called to be a shining light on a hill! We are called to heal the sick and cast out demons! We were never meant to be ineffective!

You and I have only a very brief time on this Earth. We need to do the best we can to make it count and we can not do that void of His power. I want to be effective. How about you???
