A Nugget from New Life Network
Scripture for the Day – January 1, 2020
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19)
Here we are folks! It’s a new year and a new decade!!! The question is, what are we going to do with it? What are we going to change from 2019? What are we going to stop doing? What are we going to start doing?
The choices that we make in life are very important! When I gave my life to the Lord on April 15, 1982, my whole life changed. All things were made new, but I still had to make a lot of choices on my own. The biggest choice I had to make was to honor God in everything I did and said. In other words, I chose to make Jesus Lord of my life, and not just savior. There is a big difference in the two.
A large part of the Christian community today is satisfied with just sitting in a church pew or a couch every Sunday morning. My wife and I have never been one of those types. We are not satisfied with just being a hearer of the Word. We realize that one never understands the Word until they are willing to do it. You will never see anybody healed if you never pray for anyone’s healing. You will never understand the honor and power of leading someone to the Lord until you actually do it. That is why Jesus told us to “go ye” into all the world and preach the Gospel. Two-thirds of God’s name is go and I don’t believe that is an accident.
My prayer for all of you for 2020 is that you find a ministry that is going and do something to help them go. Find a ministry that fits your passion. It may be a prison ministry, a food bank, a homeless shelter, a missionary group, a youth ministry, or a ministry to the marketplace like New Life Network. It may be something totally different, but find something. Ask God to help you!
I can tell you this. We have spent the last 37 years going and we have learned and witnessed things that we would have never experienced otherwise. From all the churches, prisons, foreign countries, corporations, and other events we have been a part of, we learned something from all of them.
I guess the main thing we learned is that God is faithful through it all. He has never forsaken us or let us down. We are more in love with God now than we have ever been. We hear Him clearer than ever before. We understand that He is good all the time. You will not know that unless you are out there pursuing Him with your whole heart.
The year 2020 is a brand new slate. God has given you some choices to make. Make Him Lord of your life, or stay stuck in a religious rut. Get up and go do what God has called you to do, or sit on a pew or couch for the rest of your life. There are people out there that need what you have been given.
If you will go, He will show-up!
