My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (John 10:27) (Note: the scripture says my sheep hear my voice, not just my shepherds)

Are you aware of the fact that you can have eyes to see and ears to hear and still not see and hear what God is trying to show you and say to you? Do you read the Bible or pray and never hear the Lord speaking to you with a clear directive or revelation? There are multiple scriptures in the Bible that describe this type of spiritual malady: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Matthew 13:15)
Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: (Jeremiah 5:21) Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. (Ezekiel 12:2) Saul, later known as the Apostle Paul, was a very learned Pharisee. He knew the scriptures but he was blinded to the truth until he accepted Jesus as his savior and was filled with the Holy Ghost: And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. (Acts 9:17-18)
There are five main reasons a person can read the scriptures, or pray to God, and never hear or see what God is trying to show or tell them: You are not born again – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3) You are living in sin – You may be living in sin which will definitely cause spiritual blindness.
You are too religious – You may have shut your heart to some divine teaching or truth in His Word because it didn’t fit into your denominational mold. Resultantly, your heart is hardened to receive any other truths. You are not Filled with the Spirit – The Holy Spirit is the author of the Word so He is the best guide and interpreter of the Word. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. (2 Corinthians 3:5-6)
You are distracted by the cares of this world – You may be so preoccupied with all that is happening around you that your heart and mind are totally distracted from the things of God.
Your answers are found in the Bible! You may not see them, but they are there. Go before the Lord and cry out to Him to examine the state of your heart. Repent of anything you need to repent of and allow Him to remove the scales from your eyes that keep you from seeing all that He has for you in His Word. He wants to talk to you and show you great and mighty things!
