Scripture of The Day

Now therefore perform the doing of it: that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. ( II Corinthians 8:11)
By Cheryl Henderson
When I was a young girl growing up in my parent’s home, my mother would give us chores to do, like clean your room! I was a little slow in getting things done. She would walk by my room and say, “didn’t I tell you to clean this room?” I would respond, “yes mam, I will do it in a minute. Of course, I would not do it. After the second time she would stand in the doorway with her hands on her hips and say, ” young lady, it is time to perform the doing of it!!”
Do you procrastinate? I have been known to do it especially when I don’t feel like it or it is something that is really hard. In those times I hear my mom saying, ” It is time to perform the doing of it.” The Word tells us that if we are just hearer of the Word and not a doer, then we are like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:24-25 )
Don’t you know that we are supposed to be the light of the world. We are supposed to look like Jesus. When we do what the Word says to do, then our light shines and we look like Jesus. I pray today that you and I become more obedient to God’s Word than ever before. Let’s you and I do what the Word says to do and be about performing the doing of it.
