Scripture for the Day (November 2, 2015)
Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. (Psalm 150:1-6)
This devotional is dedicated to the young people of this land that are dedicated to praising the Lord. That’s right! They are not all concentrated on alcohol, sex and drugs. God is raising up some young musicians and singers that are not ashamed of the Gospel and they are using their God given gifts and talents to honor Him. I love it!!!!!
Please listen to this entire praise and worship video from Kari Jobe entitled “Forever”. Listen with your heart. Some of you may have been brought up in very different church atmospheres than this. Some may not have music at all in your church. Some may have vocals and not instruments. Some may only allow musicians at the back of the church or behind a curtain (yes we have all that in Christian churches in the United States).
Let me tell you a true story. Our youngest son plays keyboards for one of the largest churches in Charlotte, NC. He has never had a music lesson in his life. We bought him a small keyboard when he was 5-6 years old and he just started playing it by ear. He now writes and composes songs on his own. Where do you think that gift comes from? The church has been guilty over the years of surrendering these precious musical gifts to the world. Many gifted children were not encouraged or given a chance for their talents to blossom in the church so the world grabbed them up. Forgive us Lord for not honoring the very gifts that were meant to praise you.
Listen to this video with your whole heart and forget what religion has taught you. Listen to the words and the heart of these fine young musicians and enter into the presence of God with them.
