Scripture for the Day (September 14, 2018)
In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents [that is, changes his inner self—his old way of thinking, regrets past sins, lives his life in a way that proves repentance; and seeks God’s purpose for his life].” (Luke 15:10, Amplified Bible)
It is just amazing to me how many people spend most of their life running from God. They use every excuse in the book. The church is just filled with hypocrites. I tried going to church and they rejected me. The Pastor ran off with the secretary. All they want is my money. On and on it goes with excuse after excuse. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because I was the same way for years. I saw and experienced some of the same problems with church folk and was quick to paint the whole Body of Christ with that same broad brush. I wasted 35 years of my life living for me and not for God.
What is really amazing is that God keeps loving us anyway and He is just waiting for us to turn to Him. The story of the prodigal son is a great example of God’s patience and continuing love for us:
And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. (Luke 15:11-24)
What we see hear is the age old battle of Satan trying to steal our children. He shows them all the glitter in the world and they think they do not need God. But in the end, it will always end up in some type of destruction because Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Thankfully the prodigal realized that he needed to return to the Father. The Father stilled loved his son and welcomed him back with open arms and a great celebration.
We deal with so many that are in this same boat. They have lost almost everything and yet they are still making excuses of why they cannot turn to God. They are too busy trying to provide for their family. They don’t have a good church to attend. Their mate is not in agreement. We can point them in the right direction, but we cannot make them run towards God. They have to make up their own minds. They have to seek and knock. They have to seek first the Kingdom. But here is the truth. The Father God is always ready to receive them and have a celebration.
Please pray for all the prodigals!!! Open their eyes Lord that they may see and run to you!!!
