Scripture for the Day – June 15, 2020
Mark 5:25-29: Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.
Besides her healing, what else did the woman with the issue of blood get? She got information or revelation about Jesus. Verse 27 says “she heard about Jesus.” This woman had been bleeding for 12 years, had been to many doctors and had spent all she had, but only grew worse. If she hadn’t heard about Jesus when she did, she would’ve probably died.
Hosea 4:6 says, ”My people perish or are destroyed for a lack of knowledge (information or revelation).” This woman got the information or revelation she needed to cause faith to rise up in her and say, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Then she went out and acted on what she had said and got exactly what she said.
A lot of people in this woman’s position would have said, “It must not be God’s will to heal me, because I’ve been like this twelve years.” Nowhere in scripture did Jesus ever say it wasn’t His will to heal. In fact, He healed everyone He came in contact with. The only time He didn’t was in His hometown of Nazareth in Mark 6:5-6, where it says, “Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”
Jesus went about teaching, because they needed information or revelation to change their unbelief to faith.
Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”
The woman with the issue of blood had done all she knew to do. When you’ve done all you know to do, you need to know some more. When you’re in a dark place and need direction and/or guidance, look to the Word of God and find scriptures that cover your situation.
We have access to the same information that the woman in Mark 5 had. Psalm 119:130 says, “The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.”
When speaking to students during our Future Now assemblies, I sometimes tell the students that information is like fuel. Whoever has the most will go the farthest.
What we all need is more Word; more information (revelation); and more faith.
