Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Psalm 34:8)

By Ed Henderson ( 2015 )

Our home is not in the country but it is on the edge of some woods in South Georgia that serves as the home for all kind of animals. We have deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, opossums, armadillos, owls, all kinds of birds, and a few snakes that visit our yard (my wife Cheryl does not like the snakes).

It is amazing to me how all these animals are drawn to good food, water, and shelter. I would swear the squirrels must have a lookout because within minutes of putting bird seed in our feeder the entire squirrel family appears out of nowhere to raid the feeder. The rabbits know exactly where the clover grows and every afternoon they are right in the middle of it chomping away. I tried once feeding a couple of the deer with corn but within a week there were twelve deer in our backyard. They obviously talk to each other. Had to give up on the corn.

Here is my point. God has built into each one of these animals a keen sense of survival and communication. They just instinctively operate in their God given gifts. The good news is that God has done the same, and even more, for you and I. We really don’t have an excuse. We just need to learn to flow with those gifts and trust Him.  Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? (Job 35:11)

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (Matthew 6:26)
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)  For so many years I thought I could do it better than God, or worse yet, do it without God. Big mistake!! How arrogant can one person be?

God has a plan for all of us. We just have to tap into His wisdom, His ways, and His Word. Once you taste the goodness of God, the bitterness of the world will never satisfy you again. There is a peace that passes all understanding and it is found when you are walking with God.  I challenge you to taste and see!!!!!! God is good, all the time!!!  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (2 Peter 1:3)  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men. (Psalm 107:15)
