Scripture for the Day (June 26, 2015)

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13)

We are instructed in Ephesians that we should put on the whole armour of God. Not just one piece! Not just two pieces, but every piece! Are you familiar with all the pieces? If not, you will be when you finish reading this devotional.

Most Bible teachers teach six pieces of armour. The number six in Biblical numerology means man. Man was created on the sixth day. The number 666 stands for man trying to be God. The number seven in Biblical numerology means perfect. There are seven days in a week, seven musical notes, seven churches in the Book of Revelation, and the Israelites marched seven times around Jericho. There are seven pieces of armour, not six.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with (1) truth, and having on the (2) breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the (3) gospel of peace; Above all, taking the (4) shield of faith; wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the (5) helmet of salvation, and the (6) sword of the spirit, which is the word of God: (7) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perserverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:14-18)

Notice that the seventh piece of armour is praying in the Spirit. The Apostle Paul described praying in the Spirit like this: “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful” (1 Corinthians 14:14). Paul also said in 1 Corinthians 14, “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God” and “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all”. You will not here this taught in many of your large denominations today and that is a real shame. This is a critical part of your armour and many have been deceived into believing that it is not for today. Wrong!!! The same gifts that were available to the Apostles are still available today.

We just have to believe the Word and ask. We have not because we ask not!! I don’t know about you, but my wife and I need and want every thing God has for us. We need every ounce of power and every gift of the Spirit to fight the good fight of faith. We are not interested in backing down or backing up from any demon in Hell. If it’s in the Bible, we want it! How about you??

The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:12)

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave then utterance, (Acts 2:4)

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:39)

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands upon them; the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (Acts 19:2-6)

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:3)
