Scripture for the Day (May 6, 2015)
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
(Proverbs 4:20-22)
My first Pastor, Fred Bennett, of Christ The Rock Church in Memphis, TN, shared a story one time that I will never forget. As a very young man he was reading his Bible at his father’s gas station and all of a sudden he had a vision. The words on the pages of that Bible came alive just like a movie. It startled him so bad that he threw the Bible down. He said he realized from that experience that the Word of God is not dead but very much alive and very powerful. He latter went on to be a very successful Pastor and Minister of the Gospel.
I have had similar experiences, not necessarily in visions, but in revelations where the Word all of a sudden comes alive and you know that God has just revealed a very important truth to you. For the word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Don’t put God in a religious box. He will not fit! The Bible is God’s love letter to you personally. He, through his Holy Spirit, will reveal things to you that he will not reveal to me. He wants to have a personal conversation with you! You do not have to be a theological scholar. I have heard it said that the Bible is deep enough that the most experienced diver will never reach the bottom but so shallow that the most inexperienced swimmer will never drown.
Take time to read the Bible on a daily basis. It will change your life! If you don’t have a Bible, call us and we will help you. If you don’t have a good Bible teaching church, call us and we will help you. Don’t go through life relying on what someone else told you the Bible says or means. Find out for yourself! You will be surprised. I was.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. (Psalm 119:130)

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:3)
