Scripture for the Day (November 16, 2018)
And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men. (1 Samuel 2:6)
This devotional is going to be very different than anything we have ever written before. The scripture tells us that we have not because we ask not. I truly believe that there are a lot of things God wants to give us, and wants to tell us, but we don’t have them because we never ask for them.
You do not have, because you do not ask. (James 4:2)
Today we are going to ask all our devotional readers for something. It’s not for us personally, but for our grandson Samuel (Sammy) Henderson. He is a senior at Charlotte Christian High School in Charlotte, NC. One of the things this school is famous for is producing some great athletes such as Seth Curry. Their current quarterback, that was kept upright these last two seasons by Sammy, has signed with Mississippi State. Charlotte Christian has mostly former pro ball players as football coaches and they have a strong winning culture. They were state champions this year for the second year in a row with an unbeaten record.
Sammy has been the starting left offensive tackle on this team for the last two years and was recently named to the All-Conference and All-State teams. He is 6’5.5” (295 lbs.) and still growing. He has one Division 1 full-ride scholarship offer but he has not committed to any school yet. If anyone out there knows a coach at a Division 1 school that needs a great offensive tackle I would highly recommend they look at Sammy. Besides being a great football player, he is a fine young man, a hard worker, and he would be a great asset to any team.
Sammy’s hudl.com link (profile) is listed below where you can see highlights of his play. You can reach his Head Coach (Jason Estep) at 704-366-1205 or through the school website at www.charlottechristian.com.

Thank you for any help or assistance you can give Sammy. You will never regret it. He will make you proud, just like he has made us proud.
