Cheryl and I have been on the road for several weeks with Charlie and Debbie Kalb attending BBS (Business Building Seminars) in Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. We heard many excellent leaders share their personal story about building their Monavie business. It was a powerful and encouraging time for all that were in attendance.
I was recently counseling with a very talented musician and songwriter and encouraging him to sing and record more of his own music rather than just singing the works of other artists. One of the things that I shared with him was that people are moved more by passion than by perfection. They are moved more by excitement than excellence. That is why when you hear a hit song performed by the original artist it is so very hard, if not impossible, to duplicate or improve on that performance by another artist. The original artist or writer of that song has more passion for that piece. They have blood, sweat and tears invested. That same pattern is true when you share your business story, or your spiritual testimony. It is your story! No one feels about it like you do! No one can share it like you can! Know one knows it like you do.
The most successful spiritual leaders in the New Testament used this same process to declare their stories. It was true for the shepherds, “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen” (Luke 2:20). It was true for the disciples, “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you” (1 John 1:3). It was even true for Jesus himself who told us He did not say anything he had not heard the Father say and He did not do anything he had not seen the Father do. He basically shared what He had seen and heard. It is a very simple but powerful process.
That is why telling your story is so important. It is powerful and it is very encouraging. It brings hope to the hearer. It does not have to be perfect and it does not have to be excellent. It just has to be your story told with your passion and your excitement.
One of the most powerful scriptures in the Bible is in Revelation 12:11 that says, “And they overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”. They overcame!!! It is not just you that can overcome but all that hear your story can overcome also. That is what is so powerful about a true testimony. It levels the playing field. You do not have to be a professional speaker to participate. You do not have to memorize a long script. It is your life, your business, your family. You have lived it. It is part of you. It is Holy and God will always honor it!!!!!! “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you”. (Philippians 4:9)
