Scripture for the Day (August 26, 2015)
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3)

I am sitting here this morning saddened by the shooting and senseless killing of a television crew in Virginia. They were not even in an unsafe or dangerous environment. These two young people had no idea when they went to work this morning that this would be the last day of their lives.
Let’s get one thing straight on the front end. This was not God’s plan for these two people’s lives! We have an enemy that comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) and his name is Satan. God will however use what the enemy meant for harm and turn it to the good. I don’t know how, but He will! He may even use this devotional to change your life due to this terrrible tragedy.
We live in a time of increasing violence and terror where it is imperative that you have your house in order. By that, I mean your spiritual house. It is more than just knowing you are going to Heaven when you die (which is very important). It is living at peace now, free from the fear of death! You and I are not promised the next minute. That is why the Word says “today” is the day of salvation, “now” is the right time. For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2, NLT)
Most people are afraid of death, especially if they do not know the Lord. The scripture says they are held in bondage throughout their life. That is not necessary! You can be free of that fear. He will deliver and completely set free all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives. (Hebrews 2:15, Amplified Bible)
How exactly does that happen? It is simply a modern day miracle. It’s kind of like knowing the right user code and password. The user code is “Jesus” and the pass code is “I believe”.
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:8-10)
Once you are born-again you have the promise from Jesus that you will never die. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)
This world is not our real home. Our real home is in Heaven with Jesus and we are inviting you to our home at some future unspecified time. This is a standing invitation. You haven’t seen anything like this in this world! We are going to have a party!
